It is that time of year again to release the details about the latest enhancements that are added to the newest release of Inventor. Here is the list of What's New for Inventor 2013.
User Interface
Help Experience
The default Autodesk Inventor Help is online, and is updated continuously.- Wiki Help
The online Wiki Help is the default help in Autodesk Inventor. If you are connected to the internet when you access Help in Autodesk Inventor, the WikiHelp displays. The Wiki provides robust, relevant, and up to date information. In addition, the Wiki enables you to partner with Autodesk to share your knowledge with others. - Local Help DownloadWhen you are not online, you can still have access to the Inventor Help locally. Access the internet, and then download from: http://www.autodesk.com/inventor-2013-help-download. When you are offline and you access the help, the local help displays.
- Tutorial Data SetsDownload the tutorial data files referenced in the Inventor 2013 Tutorials, and the instructions to install them from: http://www.autodesk.com/inventor-2013-help-download.
Welcome Screen
When you start Inventor, a welcome screen displays with a clear starting point for new and returning users. The screen is divided into three sections:- Work Section - Start new files, work on existing files, or configure the default templates.
- Learn Section - Open interactive tutorials, watch short introductory videos, or view the What's New topics.
- Extend Section - Start Autodesk Exchange, or explore the cloud with Autodesk 360.
AutoCAD 2013 – What’s New – Full Breakdown
A little while ago AutoCAD 2013 was released in Japan and now it is the US release. Before we were only able to reveal some of the details. Now here is the full list of What's New for AutoCAD 2013.
User Interaction
A Welcome Screen is automatically displayed when you launch AutoCAD 2013. It provides easy access to drawings, learning tools and online content.
In the Work panel of the Welcome Screen, you can create new drawings as well as open your existing drawings and sample files. A Recent Files list provides easy access to your most recently used drawings.
The Learn panel offers an overview of functionality new to AutoCAD 2013, provides links to videos to help you get started in AutoCAD 2013, and it includes additional learning resources.
In the Extend panel, you can easily download apps from the Autodesk Exchange and connect to Autodesk 360 and social media resources including Facebook and Twitter.
You can choose not to display the Welcome screen during startup using a control in the lower left corner. It will still be accessible from the Help menu.

AutoCAD What's New throughout the Years
Seeing as how my dedicated page for the What's New for Inventor over the years has been pretty popular I have decided to do the same thing for AutoCAD also. Up above on the tab bar you will see that there now is a Inventor What's New Tab and an AutoCAD What's New Tab. On the new AutoCAD tab you will find a What's New document starting with AutoCAD 2004 all the way through the current release of AutoCAD 2012. Also, when new versions get released, I will update these pages accordingly. If you have one from previous years of what I have let me know and I will get it added to the list.

Inventor of the Year - 2011
Autodesk has named Green Structures as the Autodesk Inventor of the Year for 2011 for developing the Ventive energy-efficiency system that is ideal for building retrofits.
Members of the Autodesk manufacturing community from around the world chose the U.K.-based company by voting on the community website. Green Structures uses Autodesk Inventor software and a range of other Autodesk Digital Prototyping solutions to transform the way energy systems are planned, designed, constructed, maintained and operated within the built environment. The company was originally named Autodesk Inventor of the Month - December 2011.
As a member of the Autodesk Clean Tech Partner Program, an initiative that provides Autodesk Digital Prototyping software to emerging and established clean tech companies, Green Structures is an innovator in passive heat recovery ventilation and thermal energy storage systems.
The firm’s Ventive heat recovery ventilation system works with existing chimneys to channel air and heat. This system contrasts with current mechanical heat recovery ventilation systems, which require that complex ductwork be installed throughout an entire building. Ventive can be installed in less than 30 minutes, providing a far faster and less expensive alternative for retrofitting buildings with the latest green technologies.
Here is the Press Release
Congratulations Green Structures.

There has been quite a bit of activity over on the Facebook page for Inventor Fusion. The most recent news is they showed the splash screen for Inventor Fusion Technology for Mac.
They also included another picture of Inventor Fusion for Mac in action.
They also loaded two new videos onto their Facebook page also. The first has to do with a 3DConnexion device in action with Inventor Fusion for Mac. The second is Part 6 in a series in showing the functionality of Inventor Fusion for Mac.
