Inventor of the Month - September 2012

Autodesk has named BMC - a leader in the Turkish automotive industry - as the Autodesk Inventor of the Month for September 2012 for using Autodesk Inventor as part of the Autodesk Product Design Suite to improve design and production processes at its main plant in Izmir, Turkey.

These productivity enhancements allow the company to more efficiently produce a wide range of vehicles, from light and heavy trucks, to buses and military vehicles, which are supplied to international as well as local markets, helping BMC move towards becoming a global brand.

During R&D and design stages, the company uses 3D modeling, visualization and simulation applications included in Autodesk Product Design Suite Ultimate 2013 and Autodesk Product Design Suite Premium 2013. In addition, BMC utilizes AutoCAD LT 2013 for 2D drafting and detailing, as well as Autodesk Revit Architecture for architectural design purposes.

To start, BMC is able to more easily identify potential assembly problems or interferences between product parts during the digital modeling phase by using Autodesk Inventor software. Sophisticated simulation and analysis tools, such as the plastic injection molding simulation and finite element analysis (FEA) features in Autodesk Inventor Professional software, help to further optimize the design process.

Once a product part or assembly is complete, Autodesk Product Design Suite also plays an important role in helping to create molds that are free of defects the first time around. Mold creation is one of the most costly processes for manufacturing companies.

Inventor 2013 SP1 Removed

This morning, Autodesk has removed the SP1 download for Inventor 2013. Just like they did for SP1 for AutoCAD 2013, removed and reposted after they fixed the problem that they were having. According to the Inventor Forum, SP1 was taken down due to an unforeseen memory management regression they were having. If you have already installed SP1 & are experiencing random instability you can uninstall it & wait for the updated version. If you aren't having problems you can leave it as-is & add the hotfix once it is released. You can still check out what the SP1 addresses on my other blog post, Click Here...

I will update with a new post when it is re-issued.

Autodesk Labs - Project Factory.Modz() for Inventor Relaunched

Just a little while back I did a post about Project Factory.Modz(), see that post HERE, that was available on the Autodesk Labs website. Well, the expiration date on that product had expired on July 31. They must have had some good feedback because they Relaunched it to the Labs website as Tech Preview 2. It supports all of the same software programs as before except this time it doesn't expire until February 28, 2013.

So check out my previous post to learn more about the details of this Labs functionality.
