Over on the Autodesk Labs website they have posted an updated 2D to 3D tool to work with Inventor 2011. It will work with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Inventor 2011. If you want to give it a try head on over to this link.

Inventor 2011 - Fundamentals of Workplanes
